City of Travelers Rest Awarded $38,000 in Grants

The City of Travelers Rest is pleased to announce that it has been awarded $38,000 in grants from various organizations.

SCDHEC – $23,000 for recycling additions to downtown, trail and new recycling campaign
SCDHEC’s Office of Solid Waste Reduction and Recycling awarded the City of Travelers Rest a grant for $23,000 to be used for recycling the city’s new recycling program. SCDHEC provides grant opportunities to local counties, cities, towns, or regions within South Carolina that provide solid waste services. The city is pleased to accept the grant and looks forward to implementing the recycling program in 2021.

Duke Energy Foundation – $10,000 Grant for Placemaking Improvements
The Duke Energy Foundation awarded the City of Travelers Rest $10,000 to use for its placemaking initiatives. Duke Energy is committed to making strategic investments to build powerful communities where nature and wildlife thrive, students can excel and a talented workforce drives economic prosperity for all.

The Greater Greenville Association of Realtors – $5,000 Grant for Placemaking Improvements
Greater Greenville Association of Realtors awarded $5,000 for placemaking improvements to the City of Travelers Rest. This grant, made available through the Nation Association of REALTORS is specifically allocated for placemaking – a way to make a community a better place to live by transforming unused and underused sites into welcoming destinations accessible to everyone in a community. The city is grateful for the grant and will add the funds to areas of downtown and the trail to provide additions and improvements.
