Minimum Requirements, Desirable Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age; CPR and First Aid; High School Diploma or equivalent EVDT; Firefighter 1 CDL-B / Class E; Firefighter ll. All candidates must be able to pass a SLED Background Check, Departmental Physical, Drug Test, Physical Agility Test, and provide a 10-year driving history. Must be 21 years or older at the time of employment; must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid South Carolina driver’s license without record of suspension or revocation; U.S. citizen; must be able to read and write the English language and have a High school diploma or equivalent. Applicant must be of good moral character and of temperate and industrious habits. No felony convictions and no criminal history with disqualifying convictions.
Knowledge of or the ability to learn the applicable laws, ordinances, and department rules and regulations; ability to perform work requiring good physical condition; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, peers, and supervisors; ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions; ability to follow verbal and written instructions; ability to meet the special requirements listed below; ability to learn the City’s geography. Must live within a 25-mile radius of the city limits.
A successful graduate of the SC Criminal Justice Academy Basic Training or successful completion of State Basic Training Academy or equivalency Test within one (1) year after employment.
Pay Info: $19.57/hour to $24.00/hour based upon experience (Benefits package includes state retirement and health, dental, vision, and life insurance options).
