Municipal Elections & Voting
The City of Travelers Rest elections are subject to applicable city, county, and state laws. The Mayor and Council Members are non-partisan and officials are elected at-large. Terms are staggered and are four years in length.

Municipal elections in the City of Travelers Rest are held in odd-numbered years. Candidates file for Mayor or City Council positions with the City of Travelers Rest City Clerk during the filing period. The Mayor and Council Member candidates contend for their seats by ballot.


2023 Municipal Election Results:  Winners of the Municipal Election held on Tuesday, November 7, 2023 are:

  • Councilmember Grant Bumgarner – 328 votes
  • Councilmember Kelly Byers – 344 votes
  • Councilmember Shaniece Criss – 341 votes
  • Councilmember Sherry Marrah – 341 votes

In the special Travelers Rest City Council election to fill former councilmember Rick Floyd’s vacancy, Catherine Stanford James defeated Jeffrey Hyten with a 403 to 80 vote count.
