5.04.480   Preservation of historic buildings.

It is the policy of the city of Travelers Rest to encourage property owners to preserve historic buildings. To this end, the city administrator shall establish appropriate safeguards and procedures to prevent the demolition of historic buildings when reasonable to do so. These procedures shall provide at minimum for the following:

(a)

The maintenance of an inventory of historic buildings;

(b)

Any building in the historic buildings inventory shall be exempt from the provisions of this article requiring demolition except that this provision shall not be construed to limit the authority of the city to require the demolition of any structure posing an immediate danger to life, limb or property.
