TRPD Participates in E-bike Initiative
City of Travelers Rest Police Department to Participate in Patrol E-bikes Debut Initiative
Travelers Rest, SC – February 15, 2023 – The City of Travelers Rest Police Department is pleased to announce that they have been selected by OKAI North America, one of the world’s largest e-scooter and e-bike sharing providers, to participate in the roll out phase of their patrol e-bikes.
Jack Gillin, with OKAI North America will present the e-bike at the Travelers Rest City Council meeting, Thursday, February 16, 2023 in Travelers Rest City Hall, 125 Trailblazer Drive, Travelers Rest, SC 29690. TD Synnex Corp is in partnership with OKAI on the project.
Police Chief, Benjamin Ford comments “There’s a great need for mobility and safety in areas not accessible by a motor vehicle such as the Swamp Rabbit Trail. We are honored to participate in the e-bike program with OKAI and TD Synnex and look forward to providing valuable feedback on the Ranger e-bike’s performance to that end.”
Also participating in the e-bikes debut initiative is the City of Pomona Police Department in California.

The Travelers Rest Police Department plans to put the OKAI e-bike in service immediately working with OKAI and TD Synnex to keep records and log reports on the bike’s performance while in service.
