Dear TR Friends,

I hope you are taking advantage of all the fun happenings in TR with our Saturday Farmers Market and concerts at Trailblazer Park. Also, check out the TR Farmers Market Mid-Week Market on Poinsett Hwy. near Chicora Alley for your fix of veggies and homemade goodies!

Our Public Works Department has been doing a great job keeping Main Street beautiful with a summer refresh of mulch and plants. They’re also updating Athens Playground and Park off Little Creek Road, so be sure to add that to your Park Hop list and stop by.

Travel + Leisure magazine names TR one of the Best Small Towns for a Summer Vacation

In the June digital issue of Travel + Leisure magazine, Travelers Rest was named one of the “15 Best Small U.S. Towns for a Summer Vacation“.

The article describes Travelers Rest as one of the most idyllic small towns in South Carolina naming popular restaurants like Topsoil, Monkey Wrench Smokehouse, and Tandem Crêperie & Coffeehouse. Read more

A Partnership to Beautify Downtown

The Mountain Laurel Garden Club has teamed up with the City to bring beautiful planters and hanging baskets to our Downtown. The first installation includes five wooden planters in the gazebo area. The planters and baskets will be updated seasonally by the Garden Club and maintained by our Public Works department.

TR Fire Department Visits Chick-fil-A

What an exciting day at Toddler Time in Chick-Fil-A! The City of Travelers Rest Fire Department showed families all the ins and outs of the fire truck – the kiddos (and parents) enjoyed it so much! To top off their time together, participants made a fun little fire truck craft. Learn more about how our Fire Department serves TR HERE.

Meet Planning Director, Jay Martin, RLA, ASLA

Jay joins us from Arbor Land Design, formally Arbor Engineering, where he was Senior Principal over Land Planning. He has an extensive background in landscape architecture, land planning, and recreational design. His previous work includes the Cancer Survivors Park in Greenville, the streetscape design of Main Street in Fountain Inn, and Otter Creek Waterpark in Taylors.

Jay is a Clemson University graduate with a Bachelor’s in Landscape Architecture. He is a Trustee of the Clemson Architectural Foundation, a Board Member with Trees Upstate, and serves with the Reedy River Water Quality Group. In his spare time, Jay enjoys officiating soccer for the SC High School League, spending time and traveling with Steffanie, his wife of 31 years, and running marathons. He enjoys spoiling Sadie James, his 9-month-old granddaughter, most of all.
