As you make last-minute back-to-school plans and watch the Olympics, don’t forget to take a break and come to Movie Night at Trailblazer Park this month. It’s a fun way for us to end the summer together.
Also, make sure to swing by TR Farmers Market and give them a big congratulations for being chosen as the #1 market in the state! We’re super excited about this and are so thankful for everything they do to support local farmers and provide us with tasty, fresh food.
Wishing everyone a fantastic August!
Brandy Amidon
Mayor of Travelers Rest

DEPARTMENT UPDATES
Captain, Josh Almeida Receives Special Recognition!
Last month, the Greenville Triumph Soccer team honored our local veterans and first responders at their Stars & Stripes Bash game at Paladin Stadium at Furman University.
Special recognition was given to our very own Captain, Josh Almeida. The department had the American flag in the air on the Aerial Truck in honor of our local veterans and first responders.
Meet Officer Hunter Edens
Hunter Edens is a local who grew up in Travelers Rest and graduated from TR High School. After high school, he bravely served overseas with the South Carolina Army National Guard before joining the TR Police Department in March, 2023. We’re grateful to have him on our team!
Favorite Moment on the Job: My first time working a search warrant on a house.
Favorite TR Spot: Monkey Wrench Smokehouse.
A Successful Public Works Initiative!
The Public Works Department takes great pride in nurturing local talent, and it has truly paid off. Back in March 2023, Abe Evens, a student at TR High who was part of the Greenville County Work-based Learning Program, started his internship with the TR Public Works department.
By July, we were thrilled to welcome Abe as a full-time member of our team. We are so happy to have you on board!
Come out and see beautifully restored cars while helping local law enforcement raise funds to buy toys for children in our area!
