It’s no secret that the Internet and the World Wide Web can be powerful tools for today’s youth, giving them instant access to the world’s libraries, museums, and a host of other informative and entertaining sites. Sadly, this convenience comes with a dark side and parents have to be sharper than ever in an ever-changing world of text messaging, social networking sites, and cryptic acronyms. For this reason, in 2009 the Travelers Rest Police Department joined the SC Attorney General’s Office’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force.
