The Travelers Rest Police Department is committed to the highest level of service for our community. We strive for constant improvement and are open to duplicating the “best practices” of other service-oriented businesses.

To that end, our agency seeks to employ candidates that truly believe in protecting and serving every member of our community in a professional, fair, and impartial manner. Previous law enforcement experience helps, but is not required to join our team. While we are advertising open positions, applications are available at City Hall located at 125 Trailblazer Drive or online here (TRPD Application). The City of Travelers Rest is an equal opportunity employer.

Please refer to our Bulletins page for current advertisements of openings with the TRPD.

Police Officer duties include, but are not limited to, rotating twelve-hour shifts performing security patrols, traffic accident investigation, and investigation and arrest of persons involved in criminal activity. Communications duties involve fixed twelve-hour shifts within our communications center, receiving and dispatching calls for service utilizing multiple radio channels and phone lines, and monitoring the City Hall surveillance camera system.

Salary & Benefits
Most of our team members are paid at an hourly rate with opportunities for overtime. While salaries are dependent upon qualifications and experience, our police officers earn from $38,000 to $51,300. Communications specialists earn from $30,000 to $40,500.

Annual leave is accrued at a rate specified by the City of Travelers Rest personnel manual. Sick leave is earned at a rate of one day per month, and the City also observes ten paid holidays per year.
Health, dental, and life insurance are provided at no cost to our employees. There are options for extending coverage to our families, and the City covers half of that cost.
